Johor cops to boost anti-drug ops
MUAR: Johor police will upgrade its operations against drug-related activities, said Johor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff.
He said they had been directed to gather information on criminal activities and even political disturbances.
Everyone in the force, from the drivers to police chiefs, had been asked to gather such information, he added.
DCP Mohd Mokhtar said it was important for the police to have an efficient intelligence network.
He was speaking to reporters after witnessing the handing over of duties between outgoing Muar police chief SAC Mohammed Nasir Ramli and acting police chief Supt Shahadan Jaafar here yesterday.
DCP Mohd Mokhtar said the public also had its role to play by providing information to the police to enable them to make a quick arrest or to prevent crime.
They should alert the authorities if they saw suspicious characters in their neighbourhood, he said.
Earlier, DCP Mohd Mokhtar congratulated SAC Mohammed Nasir for doing a good job in fighting crime in Muar in the past two years.
His excellent service had led to his promotion and deployment to the Eastern Sabah Security Command, he said.
“We also urge the public to provide similar cooperation to acting OCPD Supt Shahadan,” he added.
