Kit Siang: Abdul Ghani should be in the Cabinet
KUALA LUMPUR: Former Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman should be appointed to the Cabinet, suggested newly-elected Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang. “Abdul Ghani is a rationale, moderate, classic Malay gentleman who had contributed to Johor's development.
“It'll be just and fair if he's appointed to an important post at the federal level,” Lim said at a press conference here.
Lim defeated Abdul Ghani in the May 5 general election by a comfortable majority after a tough campaign.
Lim, who is the DAP adviser, also dismissed suggestions from various quarters that the party should join Barisan Nasional.
“There are many new angles. But I have not given any consideration to all proposals. We are waiting for all to come to us,” he said.
Former Information Minister Tan Sri Zainuddin Maidin had made the suggestion in his blog.
Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (Asli) chief executive officer Tan Sri Michael Yeoh had also proposed that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak form a broad coalition government which inc-luded DAP, PKR and PAS as partners.
Lim also reaffirmed Pakatan Rakyat's commitment to continue having “public meetings” to keep the people informed of the latest developments, regardless of whether election petitions would be lodged to contest the results.
On the massive rally at Kelana Jaya Stadium on Wednesday night, Lim said he was shocked to hear that the police would be questioning 28 out of the 33 speakers.
