GE13: Now is the time to look forward, MP tells Malaysians

PUTRAJAYA: Re-elected Mersing MP Datuk Dr Latiff Ahmad called on fellow Malaysians to preserve the unity that took more than five decades to build.

“Now is the time to look forward. We say we want to be a developed democratic nation, so move on,” he said.

Pulai MP Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said Malaysians must stay united or become like Thailand which he described as a good example of a divided country.

“Over there, people in Bangkok like to tell the rest of the country what to do and Thaksin Shinawatra's rural support base keep voting his party in.

“But along the way a lot of people get hurt physically,” he said.

Human resources manager A. Dayu Hussin, 35, said being a small nation, Malaysians must remain united to stay competitive in the region.

“Others are envious of our diversity and how we have lived so peacefully all this while.

“But we will be the laughing stock if we allow ourselves to be divided just because of a general election result,” he said.
