PETALING JAYA: Police will call in the organiser of the Wednesday night gathering in Kelana Jaya stadium.

This is because the organiser did not obey the law where a 10-day notice should be given to the police before a gathering is held.

Selangor police chief deputy comm Datuk Tun Hisan Tun Hamzah said police would also be recording the statements of 28 opposition leaders, who were found to have delivered seditious speeches which violated Section 4 (1) of the Sedition Act 1948 during the rally.

It is stated under section 9 (1) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 that one should give 10 days advance notice before a gathering is held.

He said the organiser caused inconvenience to the public and caused massive traffic jams on the roads leading to the stadium.

He said police only got the notice on the gathering at 12.20pm on Wednesday and had advised the organisers to postpone the gathering to another date.

“We asked them to postpone so that we will have sufficient time to inform the public,” he told a press conference yesterday.

DCP Tun Hisan said if the organisers had postponed the gathering to another date and given police enough time, they could have advised accordingly on the stadium's capacity and help put in place parking arrangements to avoid massive traffic congestion.
