KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita PKR chief Zuraida Kamaruddin has told DAP and PAS to stay out of the issue on the Selangor Mentri Besar's appointment.
“I read in the newspapers that PAS and DAP wanted the mentri besar to be retained. Then Rani (Selangor PAS commissioner Dr Abdul Rani Othman) said he's ready to be the MB.”
“I am wondering what is wrong with these people?” she said, adding that she wondered whether they were gila kuasa (power crazy).
In an interview with Antarapos, Zuraida questioned the eagerness of the two Pakatan Rakyat parties to interfere in the mentri besar's appointment.
“The decision has yet to be made. This is Keadilan's seat. Why are they so eager to name themselves or someone for the post?” she asked.
She said the post belonged to PKR and the party should be given space to decide the best person for the job with no interference from a third party.
PKR won 14 state seats in Selangor in the just-concluded general election. PAS and DAP won 15 seats each.
Selangor has 56 state seats.
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has been quoted as saying that Selangor DAP was in full support of Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim remaining as mentri besar.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali had also made a similar statement.
Meanwhile, PKR sources said that PKR, PAS and the DAP had endorsed Khalid's appointment and that the swearing-in was expected to take place early next week.
