13 men to be charged on Monday for election-related offences


PUTRAJAYA: Thirteen men will be brought to the Magistrate's Court on Monday to face charges for various election-related offences.

Deputy head of the prosecution division (Operation) at the Attorney-general's Office, Datuk Mohamad Hanafiah Zakaria, said one of them would be charged at the Taiping Magistrate's Court for voluntarily causing hurt by slapping the face of the complainant in the case.

Three men would be charged in the Kuala Kubu Bharu Magistrate's Court for creating public disorder, he told a media conference at the lobby of the Attorney-General's Chambers here Friday.

Mohamad Hanafiah said there would also be a case at the Georgetown Magistrate's Court where a man would be charged under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for using insulting words with intent to provoke anger and disrupt peace.

Another man would be charged in the Ampang Magistrate's Court with causing mischief for allegedly damaging 90 flags belonging to a political party, and also another, to be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court under the Police Act 1967 for possession of a handcuff.

At the Sepang Magistrate's Court, a man would be charged with causing mischief for damaging a picture of a candidate of a political party, he added.

Mohamad Hanafiah said at the Taiping Magistrate's Court, a man would be charged for causing mischief for cutting the rope of an election poster, while three men would be charged at the Alor Gajah Magistrate's Court with voluntarily causing hurt on a complainant at the operations room of a political party.

At the Magistrate's Court in Klang, a man would be charged for being at a riot and another man for wrongful obstruction of 23 people in a bus. Bernama
