GE13: Johor PAS to submit petitions to dispute results

JOHOR BARU: Johor PAS will be submitting election petitions to dispute the results in several state seats.

Among the seats are Gambir, Mahkota and Nusajaya, said Johor PAS commissioner Datuk Dr Mahfodz Mohammad.

“We hope to file these petitions in view of the irregularities that we have found,” he said, claiming that their polling agent had discovered early votes from Nusajaya ending up in the Mahkota seat.

“How did this happen? We will also be carrying out a post-mortem to identify all the issues that we have faced in this elections,” he said at a press conference yesterday.

He also said that Johor PAS was satisfied with their win of four state seats, stating that the party had only two assemblymen previously.

Dr Mahfodz said the hudud issue played up by Barisan Nasional did not hurt the party much as the Opposition had received good support from the Chinese community and the Malays in urban areas.

He also said that Johor PAS had no problems with DAP having 13 state assemblymen.

Dr Mahfodz, who failed to win the Gambir state seat, said that this was his last general election.

On his political fate as state PAS commissioner, he said he would leave it to the PAS muktamar to decide.
