Dr Chua will step down when party affairs in order
By ISABELLE LAI and EILEEN NG

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek will step down when he has put things in order in the party.
"I will not go off just because a few people ask me to step down. Majority of the members also want me to stay as president.
"There are lots of loose ends to tie up," he said after chairing the MCA presidential council meeting here on Saturday.
When asked further when he would quit he said it would be sometime between June and December.
Meanwhile, Dr Chua also reiterated that the party would stick to its resolution not to accept all government posts if the GE13 results are worse than that of 2008.
The party had during its annual general assembly in 2011 and 2012 endorsed the resolution.
Dr Chua also said the council had unanimously decided that party elections would begin next month, and it would take five months to complete.
Dr Chua speaking to reporters at a press conference after the MCA presidential council meeting on Saturday. "Secretary-general Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha will be tasked with ensuring that polls are conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
"The council has also appointed deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai to head a special task force on how to lead party forward in view of party's disappointing performance in the just concluded general election.
He pointed out that MCA service centres nationwide were not closing down.
"We are just taking a break following an intense campaigning period," he said.
