PETALING JAYA: Four teenagers, who were detained by police in connection with the attempted robbery and murder of a woman in Bukit Gasing, have been released on police bail.

Aged between 16 and 18, the teens were released due to lack of evidence, said Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamad.

“It doesn't mean our investigations are over.

“We will bring them in again if new evidence emerges,” he said yesterday.

ACP Arjunaidi also said that police had increased patrols in the area.

“We urge members of the public to come forward if they have any information on the case.

“We view this matter very seriously and aim to catch the culprits as soon as possible,” he said.

On April 20, social activist Ong Ai Siam, 52, was strolling in Bukit Gasing at about 4.30pm with her daughter when two men on a motorcycle approached them.

One of them, who had a knife, attacked Ong.

She ended up being stabbed in her attempt to fend off the attack.

On April 23, a police task force arrested two youths, aged 16 and 18, at the Sri Medan flats and two others aged 17 and 18, at the Bukit Gasing Indah flats in connection with Ong's murder.
