Mustapa: BN will not shun progress in Kelantan

KOTA BARU: The people of Kelantan have been assured that Barisan Nasional would not deprive the state of development even if a majority of them had rejected the coalition in the recent general election.

State Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said this was because it was the right of the Kelantan people to enjoy the benefits of development like their counterparts in other states.

It is also not Barisan's policy to not bring development to Kelantan although the coalition failed to get majority support from the people, he added.

“What is important is we want the Kelantan people to know, and to convince them, who actually is capable of caring for their interests,” he said at a press conference here yesterday.

Mustapa, who is former International Trade and Industry Minister, also said he was confident that Kelantan Barisan would be able to work together with the state government under the leadership of Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakub.
