NIBONG TEBAL: Support for Pakatan Rakyat's “Black 505” rallies have promoted a sense of togetherness among the different races, said PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He was speaking at Pakatan's second rally protesting the 13th general election results at the Batu Kawan Stadium here last night. Pakatan supporters, mostly dressed in black, turned up from as early as 4pm although the rally only began at 8.30pm.

Traffic was at a crawl for several kilometres along major roads leading to the stadium.

At 10pm, the crowd was still pouring in with some having walked 5km or more after finding it difficult to get parking closer to the venue.

During the event, the emcee announced that unscrupulous people were pretending to be officials and collecting funds from the crowd.

He told those present that their officials were using plastic containers and not plastic bags for the collection.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng arrived at the event only at 10.55pm after getting caught in a two-hour snarl-up.

Unlike Pakatan's first rally in Kelana Jaya on Wednesday, there was a strong police presence to oversee traffic and public safety.

It was reported that the organiser had submitted a notice to the district police chief about the rally, as required under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

Pakatan's next rally is at Medan Istana Ipoh in Perak tonight, followed by Kuantan on Tuesday and Johor Baru on Wednesday.
