Two men detained for shooting barber
KUALA LUMPUR: Two men have been detained to facilitate investigations into the brutal shooting of a barber near the Billion roundabout in Cheras.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohmad Salleh said the suspects, aged 35 and 40, are believed to be involved in the murder of R. Karikaalan, 29, at about 11.30am on April 26.
“We cannot confirm whether these two are the main suspects.
“However, we believe they are involved in shooting Karikaalan,” he said in a statement Sunday.
DCP Mohmad said the suspects have been remanded until May 15 to assist investigations.
“The investigations are still ongoing.
“I will like to make it clear that this case is not connected to the Customs deputy director-general's shooting,” he said.
On April 26, Karikaalan was driving home to Taman Puchong Cheras with his mother when two men on a motorcycle rode alongside the car.
The pillion rider fired multiple shots at Karikaalan and his mother.
Several shots hit Karikaalan while his mother, in her 60s, was shot in the arm.
Karikaalan succumbed to his injuries while his mother survived.
