Man shot 10 times in drive-by shooting
KULIM: A shop assistant for a used goods business was killed after he was shot at 10 times by his assailants while in his car at a traffic-light junction in Taman Kucai, Lunas, here, Saturday night.
Kulim district police chief, Supt. Ghuzlan Salleh said the victim, identified as K. Thangaraja, 31, from Taman Perak, here, was driving his Perodua Alza car towards the Butterworth-Kulim Highway when the incident happened at 8.43pm at the junction.
"Two men believed to be armed with a pistol approached the car on the right side and then fired several shots at the victim, hitting his face and right arm.
"This caused the victim to lose control of the car which skidded for about 70m to the left road shoulder where he died," he said when contacted.
Ghuzlan said the police team who arrived at the scene, thought the victim was involved in a road accident until they saw the gunshot wounds.
He said police found ten 9mm bullet shells in the victim's car.
Thangaraja's body was sent to Kulim Hospital, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. - Bernama
