Six-year-old boy saves three siblings from fire
KOTA BARU: The quick action of six-year-old Afiq Hadi Mohd Hakimi saved three siblings from a fire which destroyed two houses in Kampong Tanjong Mas here.
In the 1.30pm fire, Afiq Hadi carried his three younger brothers, Alif Hazim, five, Aufa Imtiyaz, three, and Aqil Imtiyaz, one, from the wooden house they were living in to safety.
However, Alif Hazim was slightly injured when his right shoulder suffered burns while being carried out by his brother.
According to his mother, Wan Syarifah Shahrizat Wan Idris, 37, she had left her four children in the house to take the eldest child, Alia Insyirah, 8, from SK Chempaka on a motorcycle.
"Before I could reach the school, I saw thick black smoke billowing about 100 metres from the house and I quickly returned home for fear of my children's safety," she told reporters when met at the scene.
She was grateful that all her children were safe even though all valuables in the house and a car parked beside it were destroyed.
Fire and Rescue chief (Bomba) Mohd Sabri Ismail said when the fire fighters arrived, the place was almost 90 per cent razed and the that the department was still investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the amount of losses. - Bernama
