We need to be grateful for what we have

I TOTALLY agreed with Rathi Thevi Pragasam in “Please, count our blessings” (The Star, May 9).

As the people have voted in the recent GE13, I assume that the message was clearly delivered to the Government and I believe our Prime Minister will do much better in years to come in all aspects and for all races.

There are many Malaysians out there who are grateful for the harmony and peace that we are enjoying now.

It is unfair to only complain about the shortcomings which are highlighted by certain parties.

Instead, try to appreciate the benefits provided for the rakyat for e.g. the medical or hospital services provided by the Government, which is accessible and extended to all with a minimal payment.

My plea to those who are trying to provoke or create hatred among the people, please stop immediately for the sake of all.

Please preserve the harmony and peace that we have been enjoying for so many years.

Everyone should be humble enough to accept defeat with graciousness and dignity.

I am glad that the GE13 went on smoothly and not like what is happening now in Pakistan, something every Malaysian should be proud of.

I am 101% with Rathi: thank you for your concern.
