KUALA LUMPUR: His entertainment knowledge helped Prasad Than-dapani, 15, from SMK Taman Yarl lead his team to victory in the lower secondary category of the RHB-The Star Mighty Minds National Challenge.

SMK Taman Yarl, initially in third place after the second round, gained points in the buzzer quiz to win the KL leg of the competition.

Prasad was able to answer many entertainment-related questions, an ability he said was due to his music education as he has played the sitar for five years.

Also in the team were Jayvin Singh Harbans Singh and Murlii Kumar Magasan.

Sekolah Sri Dasmesh and Sekolah Sri Sempurna came in second and third respectively in the lower secondary category.

In the upper secondary category, SMK (L) Methodist thrashed the other teams by over 15 points and took top spot.

The team, comprising Albert Ang, Marcus Tay and Patrick Chong, all 17, said they had multiple strategies for winning the competition that they would share only after the National Finals.

Sekolah Sri Dasmesh came in second while SMK Aminuddin Baki took third place.

Jointly organised by Star Publi-cations (M) Bhd and RHB Banking Group, champions from each state will head here for the National Finals in October.

The upper secondary winners at the National Finals will win a trip to the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition in Ireland, sponsored by Penang Medical College.
