Perak to increase exco line-up

KUALA KANGSAR: The Perak executive councillor line-up will be increased to a number that will be announced later, said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.

He said the state administration had six exco members, excluding himself, prior to the 13th general election.

“We will see more members in the new line-up.

“It has not been finalised yet because we want the team to represent all communities.

“We will also consider a special appointment as we all know that there is no representative from the Indian community.

“We want to form a government that can represent all (races),” he said after attending the Sultan Azlan Shah Run here yesterday.

Dr Zambry was sworn in as mentri besar for a second term after Barisan Nasional retained Perak by winning 31 of the 59 state seats contested in the elections.

Umno won 30 of the seats and MCA won the Chenderiang state seat.

The previous state exco members were Datuk Hamidah Osman, Datuk Ramly Zahari, Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon, Datuk Saarani Mohamad, Datuk Mohamad Zahir Abdul Khalid and Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin.

Dr Mah (Chenderiang), Saarani (Kota Tampan), Mohd Zahir (Kamunting) and Zainol Fadzi (Sungai Manik) retained their respective state seats, while Hamidah lost her Sungai Rapat state seat.

Former Manong state assemblyman Ramly did not contest in the elections.
