Ipoh mayor to help promote event in southern Thailand

IPOH: Ipoh mayor Datuk Roshidi Hashim will be travelling to several provinces in southern Thailand to help promote Ipoh International Starwalk 2013.

He said the city council had planned visits to Betong, Songkhla, Phuket and Krabi from June 4 to 8 to promote Ipoh's tourism industry and activities that would be held between June and July.

“We will be meeting up with the mayors and will ask them to help us promote Starwalk.

“We have also contacted Tourism Malaysia based in Thailand to help with the promotion activities.

“Apart from Starwalk, the city will also be hosting two other events, the Ipoh International Waiters Race and the Ipoh International Run,” he said.

Starwalk, which will be flagged off at Stadium Indera Mulia on June 16, is jointly organised by Star Publications (M) Bhd and the city council with the cooperation of the state Education Department.

It also coincides with the city's 25th anniversary celebrations.

The registration fee is RM20 (international), RM15 (Malaysians) for competition walkers and RM10 for non-competition walkers.

Interested participants can visit The Star office at No 8-10 Lorong Chung Thye Phin during office hours from Mondays to Saturdays or register online at www.thestar.com.my.
