Zest Airways begins flights from Manila to KK


KOTA KINABALU: A Philippine airline has started flying into this Sabah capital.

AirAsia-linked Zest Airways began operating its four times weekly Manila-Kota Kinabalu route on Friday.

Tourism Malaysia Manila office director Fazdila Mansor said tourists from the Philippines were among the 10 international arrivals in Sabah,

Last year, the country welcomed 508,744 Filipino tourists compared to 362,101 in 2011.

This represents a 40.5% increase and it is expected to rise, Fazdila added.

In Sabah, the number of arrivals had increased from 50,195 in 2011 to 71,404 in 2012.

“This service comes at a perfect time since Malaysia will be celebrating its fourth Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) in 2014 and our campaign begins this year.”
