Kulasegaran lodges police report against pro-chancellor over vernacular schools remark

IPOH: Ipoh Barat MP M. Kulasegaran has lodged a police report against Universiti Teknologi Mara pro-chancellor Tan Sri Dr Abdul Rahman Arshad, who mooted the idea of closing vernacular schools in a forum.

Kulasegaran, who is also DAP national vice chairman, condemned the statement.

“The statement is seditious as mother tongue education is a right under the constitution,” he alleged after lodging the report at the Ipoh district police headquarters here Monday.

In his police report, Kulasegaran stated that several Tamil newspapers have reported Dr Abdul Rahman's statement and he hoped police would take necessary action.
