YAN: Police have warned political parties against any more acts of provocation over the general election results to prevent an upheaval.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said police would not allow the country's administration to be held under siege by those who tried to challenge the constitution through provocative rallies.

"Let me remind these quarters, we have plans of action if things get out of hand," he told reporters after opening the RM60mil Yan police headquarters building here.

He was commenting on claims that the Pakatan Rakyat rally at the Kelana Jaya Stadium, Selangor last Wednesday was provocative in nature.

On the probe into the murder of Customs deputy director-general Datuk Shaharuddin Ibrahim in Putrajaya on April 26, Ismail said he was satisfied with the progress of the investigation.

He said the case was serious because certain quarters attempted to instil fear in civil servants. - Bernama
