Nurul Izzah says not eyeing PKR presidency when mum steps down

By TASHNY SUKUMARAN

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar says she is not eyeing the party president's post when her mother, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, steps down.

"I have not entertained that possibility. Right now, the goal is for us to continue serving the people and probing the possibility of election fraud," she said.

There have been talk that Dr Wan Azizah would be stepping down following Pakatan Rakyat's failure in the general election.

PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is Nurul Izzah's father, was also reported to have said that he would leave politics and go into lecturing.

"At this point the main goal is just to consolidate the party," she told The Star on the sidelines of the Hari Bangsa Malaysia event at the Selangor KL Chinese Assembly Hall here.

When asked for her response to PKR deputy president Azmin Ali's claim that there was nepotism within the party, the Lembah Pantai MP said she has no desire to address old allegations.
