Looking good: Celebrities Wilson Tan and Nadia Heng strutting around in Esprit outfits during the Vogue for Virtue 2013 Charity Fashion Show. PHILANTHROPY and fashion converged when a host of celebrities took to the catwalk during Queensbay Mall’s Vogue for Virtue 2013 Charity Fashion Show.
Hundreds thronged the mall’s central atrium to watch glamourous names like Carmen Soo, Daphne Iking, Debbie Goh, Elaine Daly, Hansen Lee, Nadia Heng, Sazzy Falak and Wilson Tan strut around.
The celebrities paraded in the latest collections of international brands like Esprit, French Connec-tion, G2000, Springfield and Uniqlo as cameras flashed away.
In between segments, songbird Atilia serenaded the crowd with jazzy numbers, while radio deejay Serena C kept them engaged with her witty emceeing, drawing chuckles along the way.
The event in Penang on Wed- nesday, held for the fifth year running, raised RM20,000 for underprivileged children, once again living up to its prime objective of making charity fashionable.
Winning ways: Pang, voted Best Female Model at the Vogue for Virtue Model Search 2013, showing her poise on stage. The sum was split equally amongst the National Autism Society of Malaysia, Joblink Centre, Penang Down Syndrome Association and Pertubuhan Rumah Kebajikan Seri Cahaya.
Queensbay Mall’s marketing communications manager Wendy Wong said they hoped to create awareness and offer financial assistance to charitable organisations that provide shelter, education and healthcare to these less fortunate children.
The mall’s fashion month in April culminated with the Vogue For Virtue 2013 Model Search Grand Finale a day later, featuring 10 male, 10 female and 10 child finalists whittled down from an initial pool of 242 hopefuls.
Supported by their family members and friends, the adult model wannabes strutted around as they vied for the RM1,500 worth of prizes that awaited each category winner.
In the end, 20-year-old Vivian Pang Xing Rau and 25-year-old Nicholas Chew Teng Wai walked away with the coveted Best Female Model and Best Male Model titles respectively.
Pang had double reason to celebrate as she also bagged the Best Hair subsidiary title, while there were also awards for Mae-Ziele Nyara Joseph, 15 (Best Cover Model), Acelyn Goh Pei Yong, 26 (Female Body Perfect), and Vick Foo Sew Xian, 25 (Male Body Perfect).
The 10 child finalists were all winners, as they collectively took home fashion vouchers totalling RM2,000.
