EC should expedite production of polls report

GE13, with minor exceptions, went off smoothly, registering, according to the Election Commission (EC), an all-time record turnout of 84.45%.

In most polling stations, large numbers of voters of all races and ages turned up and were helped by volunteers and officials to get into the right stream. The EC, its staff and the police must be congratulated for a job well done.

The popular vote cast was more for the Opposition than for the Barisan Nasional and this has prompted many comments, with some calling it a “Chinese Tsunami”. This, to say the least, is grossly unfair for the reason that there were also other races who voted for the Opposition for one reason or another.

The EC should expedite the publishing of its report for all discerning persons, on both sides of the divide, to study and come to their own conclusions.
