Half of Negri Sembilan exco members to be new faces

SEREMBAN: At least half of the 10-member Negri Sembilan state executive committee will be new faces.

Kuala Pilah Umno chief and fourth-term Senaling assemblyman Datuk Ismail Lasim is also likely to be appointed Speaker.

Nine of the 10 exco members will be from Umno and one from MIC, which won one of the two seats the party contested in the general election.

Ismail was tipped to replace former Speaker and Pertang assemblyman Datuk Razak Mansor, who did not contest in the polls.

There will be no representatives from MCA and Gerakan as none of their candidates won in the 12 seats they contested.

Traditionally, MCA had two positions in the state exco, with Gerakan and MIC given one each.

Four former exco members likely to be retained are Rasah Umno chief and second-term Labu assemblyman Datuk Hasim Rusdi, Kuala Pilah Umno treasurer and third-term Juasseh assemblyman Datuk Razi Kail, second-term Serting assemblyman Datuk Shamsulkahar Mohd Deli and former Jelebu MP and second-term Klawang assemblyman Datuk Yunus Rahmat.

The new additions to the state exco line-up would likely include Rembau Umno vice-chief and third-term Kota assemblyman Datuk Dr Awaluddin Said, Port Dickson municipal councillor and first-term Bagan Pinang assemblyman Tun Khairuddin Tun Abu Bakar and ex-teacher and first-term Gemas assemblyman Abd Razak Ab Said.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan was expected to announce the new line-up in due course after getting the list endorsed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
