PETALING JAYA: PKR’s election fraud team has received 237 complaints from the public over alleged GE13 irregularities.

PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli, who heads the team, said the reports concerned 25 parliamentary seats that Pakatan Rakyat contested and lost in the May 5 polls.

“I will not categorise it as fraud until I get evidence,” Rafizi, who is also Pandan’s newly-elected MP, said.

The 24 parliamentary seats are: Bentong, Kuala Selangor, Baram, Sungai Besar, Pasir Gudang, Labis, Ketereh, Titiwangsa, Tebrau, Bagan Serai, Kota Marudu, Beaufort, Setiawangsa, Segamat, Ledang, Balik Pulau, Kulim Bandar Baru, Pulai, Kuala Kangsar, Muar, Pendang, Sabak Bernam, Merbok, Pensiangan and Saratok.

No reports have been lodged on another two seats – Hulu Selangor and Machang – although fraud is suspected there too.

Rafizi said these seats had a victory margin of under 5%, the number of spoilt votes was larger than the margin of victory and had higher than normal postal and advance votes.

Rafizi said that 19 of these were PKR seats and were “hotly-contested” constituencies.

Eight state assembly seats, he added, are also in question, though no details were given.

Evidence, he said, could come in the form of videos, images and police reports. The allegations included phantom voters, vote-buying, faded indelible ink and so on.

“PAS and DAP will be roped in to help with all the claims,” he added.

Once the evidence is gathered, Rafizi said that it will be submitted to Bersih’s “People’s Tribunal”. A petition will then be filed before the Election Commission.

He added that PKR will also present witnesses who lodged police reports on the alleged fraud.

Once the election results are announced, the complainants have 21 days to file petitions.
