NGOs lodge report against planned Pakatan rally in Johor

By HAMDAN ABDULLAH

LEDANG: TEN non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in northern Johor lodged a joint police report Tuesday against the Pakatan Rakyat 505 rally planned in Johor for Wednesday.

The groups, including Ledang Pekida, Ledang Perkasa, Ledang-Muar Ex-Policemen's Association, Ledang-Muar Ex-Army Association and Felda Southern Region Committee Members group, later staged a peaceful protest outside the Ledang police station.

The groups' representative, Abdel Rahim Gareb from Ledang MYAC, said they were protesting against the Oppositions' rally as it could cause chaos and affect the security of the country.

"We want the police to stop such rally in Johor and take appropriate action against those involved.

"We fear that if not curbed, the rallies would effect national unity among the people from the various races," he said.
