JOHOR BARU: MCA national organising secretary and Pulai Sebatang assemblyman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong was among the nine state executive councillors sworn in here Tuesday.

This was despite the MCA's decision not to accept any government positions if the party did not improve on its 2008 performance in the recently-concluded 13th general election on May 5.

The party won seven parliamentary seats this time around, compared with 15 previously.

It was reported on Monday that the MCA was allocated one seat in state executive council line-up in accordance with a special request made by Johor Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar to have a Chinese representative.

Tee has been put in charge of the Tourism, Domestic Trade and Consumerism portfolio.
