GE13: Blogger ‘Milo Suam’ in hot water for posting classified papers

KUALA LUMPUR: Blogger Yusuf Al-Siddique Suratman has been arrested for allegedly posting classified documents and false news on his Milo Suam blog.

He had allegedly posted articles containing a classified document on security measures during the attack by foreign terrorists in Lahad Datu.

His blog also published an article which claimed police personnel had carried out early voting although only postal voting was carried out.

Federal Commercial Crimes director Comm Datuk Syed Ismail Azizan said Yusuf, 29, was picked up in Setia Alam early yesterday after two police reports were lodged against him. He has been remanded for two days.

“No policeman carried out early voting, but some of them had done postal voting.

“We are also investigating how he had managed to get a copy of the letter sent out to the Sabah OCPDs as the document is a classified material,” he said yesterday.

In a separate case, two people were nabbed after they hacked into the websites of the Information Department and National Registration Department (NRD).

The men, aged 33 and 28, were arrested in a hotel room in Jalan Raja Laut on Tuesday.

“They hacked into the Information Department's website on Feb 20 and posted a hoax report on the Prime Minister's resignation,” Comm Syed Ismail said.

He said the suspects were also believed to have created a fake e-mail, purportedly sent out from the NRD, advising all staff members to send uncollected MyKad and MyKid documents to an address in Sabah.

The suspects have been remanded until tomorrow.
