GE13: Deputy IGP – No reports of phantom voters

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar. KUALA LUMPUR: Despite several allegations on the social media of phantom voters in Kulaijaya and other parts of the country, police confirmed they have not received any report on the matter.
Describing the allegations as mere rumours, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar warned irresponsible groups against inciting anger and panic.
“Do not think that we will not take action.
“If there is indeed phantom voters, of course we will detain them,” he told reporters on Sunday.
On allegations that bus loads of phantom voters had gone to Kulaijaya on Saturday night, Khalid confirmed the bus passengers were Rela members.
“People should verify their information before believing such rumours,” he said.
Khalid said police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) were working together to identify those behind the spread of such news.
“We will arrest them as soon as we trace them,” he said.
