IPOH: Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir (pic) will be sworn in as Mentri Besar for a second term today.
The swearing-in will take place before Sultan Azlan Shah at Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar.
Dr Zambry retained the Pangkor state seat with a majority of 5,124 votes, beating Mohd Saifullah Mohd Zulkifli of PKR who received 7,167 votes and Independent candidate Bernard Parenpa Johon who garnered 51 votes.
Barisan Nasional maintained its rule of the state after it won 31 of the 59 state seats in the polls on Sunday.
Umno won 30 of the 36 state seats contested by Barisan; MCA contributed one seat (Chenderiang).
Bernama reported that Dr Zambry had an audience with the Regent of Perak, Raja Dr Nazrin Shah, at Istana Kinta yesterday.
During the one-hour audience, Zambry presented the results of the 13th general election in Perak and asked for the Regent's consent to form a new state government.
In George Town, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said he would be sworn in as Penang Chief Minister for a second term today.
He will take his oath before the Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas at the latter's official residence in Seri Mutiara at 11.30am.
