GE13: Husam not sore about being dropped from Kelantan exco line-up
Datuk Husam Musa KOTA BARU: PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa is disappointed over how he was dropped from the state executive councillors line-up, but stressed that he was not sore about it.
He said that he was not notified of the state PAS committee meeting, which was held to finalise the state exco list.
The meeting was also to seek approval from the Sultan of Kelan-tan Sultan Muhammad V to provide consent to the line-up.
He stressed that his omission should not be linked to the palace, saying the state Ruler was fair and just.
Husam, 54, refused to be drawn into the speculation that he was backstabbed, saying he had served the state government as a humble servant of Islam and wanted to ensure that the religious virtues were upheld in the modern age.
“I sleep in the same bed with my Islamic brothers. I share the same blanket and I do not believe my Muslim brothers will snatch my part of the blanket away. I remain committed in the same struggle like my brothers. We are all upholding Islam here.”
Husam's sudden departure from the state exco line-up coincides with the decision by PAS spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat to withdraw from consideration as the state's mentri besar.
Nik Aziz's successor is Datuk Ahmad Yakob, the former deputy mentri besar for the last three terms.
Husam said he was forced to hold a press conference to clarify the issue following a gathering held by a group of supporters from the Salor constituency who had demanded that the state PAS leadership explain why Husam was dropped.
He won the Salor state seat in the general election, but lost in his bid for the Putrajaya parliamentary seat.
On his future plans, Husam said he would devote his time to Kelantan and would give advice to his PAS colleagues who sit in the state government.
“I will help them in any way possible. I can dispense free advice,” he added.
