Indian votes featured prominently in GE13, says Kula

IPOH: DAP vice-chairman M. Kulasegaran says strong support from the Indian community for the opposition front has disputed the perception of a “Chinese tsunami”.

The re-elected Ipoh Barat MP cited as an example his constituency where he said the vote bank of Indian voters made up of 25% of the more than 77,900 electo-rate.

“It is one of the largest Indian vote banks in the country,” he told reporters at an event to thank voters at the Kampung Tawas market here yesterday.

He was accompanied by newly-elected Bercham assemblyman Cheong Chee Khing.

Kulsegaran said the statistics in the Ipoh Barat parliamentary constituency were gathered from the score sheet.

“So, statements of a ‘Chinese tsunami’ falls hollow and cannot hold water,” he said.

On another matter, Kulasegaran advised voters whose names were missing or moved out of their original constituency to report the matter to the Election Commis-sion.
