Khaled almost certain to become next Johor MB
Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin JOHOR BARU: Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin is almost certain to be appointed the mentri besar after having met the Johor Sultan to discuss the new state exco line-up.
Approached outside Istana Pasir Pelangi here yesterday, the newly-elected Permas assemblyman said the exco list would be finalised this week.
“I will then seek another audience with Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar for his approval,” he said.
Khaled did not confirm it when asked if the Ruler had approved him to be the new Johor mentri besar.
“The Sultan has given me a copy of the state constitution and will set a date for the official swearing-in ceremony for the mentri besar and 10 exco members once the list has been confirmed by next week,” he added.
He said that it was a Johor tradition for the swearing-in ceremony of the mentri besar and state exco to be held together.
Khaled said Sultan Ibrahim advised him to pick candidates who would be able to serve Johoreans well.
“The ruler provided me with a lot of insight and advise to draw up the state exco list,” he said.
The former Higher Education Minister said that the state exco usually comprised of seven Umno and two MCA representatives, plus one MIC nominee.
