GE13: PAS wants Khalid Ibrahim as Selangor MB to show PR's collective spirit, says Hadi
Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim MARANG: PAS wants Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim retained as the Mentri Besar of Selangor.
PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said although PKR only won 14 state seats in Sunday's general election compared to PAS and DAP (which won 15 seats each), PAS made a decision that Khalid should continue to helm the state.
The Pakatan Rakyat pact retained the state with a two-thirds majority after capturing 44 of the 56 seats at stake. The rest were won by the Barisan Nasional.
"I have discussed with Selangor PAS for a Mentri Besar from PKR be retained in Selangor. "We want to show that Pakatan Rakyat can administer a state in a collective manner," he said when delivering a talk in Rusila here.
Abdul Hadi said he had issued a letter from the party to the effect to be submitted to Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor. On PAS representation in the Selangor state executive council, he said he was leaving this to Selangor PAS to take it up with its partners.
On Wednesday, DAP endorsed Khalid as its candidate for mentri besar.
