Kelantan to set up Institute of Nik Aziz's Thoughts

KOTA BARU: The Kelantan government is setting up an institute in recognition of former Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat's service and contribution to the state for 23 years.

Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob said the institute, to be known as the Institute of Nik Aziz's Thoughts, was aimed at preserving the legacy of the ulama leadership.

"The institute will also serve as a reference and development centre for policies on development with Islam, as well as a research and development centre for Kelantan," he told a media conference.

The meeting was chaired by Nik Aziz, who is state PAS commissioner.

Meanwhile, Nik Aziz said he remained PAS commissioner, although no longer the mentri besar. - Bernama
