LONDON: Malaysia's Bryan Nickson Lomas narrowly missed qualifying for the semi-finals of the men's 10m platform diving event in the Olympic Games here early on Saturday.
The 22-year-old Sarawakian amassed 434.95 points in his six dives to finish 19th out of the 32 competitors in the preliminary round competition.
The top 18 qualified for the semi-finals and the final spot went to American David Boudia, who managed 439.15 points.
China's Qiu Bo topped the standings on 563.70 points.
Malaysian coach Yang Zhuliang said that Bryan made mistakes that were uncharacteristic for him and paid the price with poor scores.
"There were couple of dives where he made mistakes that he should not have. This is due to his inexperience.
"I am sure he is disappointed with his showing but he can learn from this," he added.
