Singaporean triathletes dominate KL race
KUALA LUMPUR: The third edition of the Kuala Lumpur International Triathlon saw Singaporean triathletes Mok Yin Ren and Victoria Campbell dominating the race at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa here yesterday.
The 17-year-old Yin Ren clocked 1'49:44 to beat compatriot and SEA Games-bound triathlete Cheng Jing Hean, who clocked 1'53:47.
Besides winning the men's 16-29 years category, Yin Ren also won the overall championship title.
“This is my first participation in the KL International Triathlon and I'm very happy to win it,” he said.
MOK: Won the men's overall title In the women's category, Campbell retained her title. She clocked 2'01:25 to finish ahead of Malaysians Tang Lee Shen and Stephanie Chok. Lee Shen and Stephanie clocked 2'19:53 and 2'20:21 respectively.
The victory was a pleasant surprise for Campbell.
“I have just finished school and I'm working now. So there are changes in my lifestyle. But I'm happy that I can still win the race despite the lack of training,” she said.
