Negri Sembilan sign up 10 players from KLHA clubs
KUALA LUMPUR: Division Two's Negri Sembilan have secured the services of 10 players from clubs affiliated to the Kuala Lumpur HA (KLHA) for their challenge in the Razak Cup tournament, which begins tomorrow at the Pandamaran Hockey Stadium in Klang.
They are Nor Effendy Ramli, Nor Azlan Rahim, M. Nadarajan, Lawrence Stevens, Nishel Kumar, Lee Sien Lam, N. Sivanesan, K. Saravanan, A. Nagarajan and Mohamed Fairus Ramli.
All of them are Negri-born but still needed to be release by the KLHA to avoid jeopardising their participation for their club in the KLHA League. And the KLHA have given them the nod.
KL have withdraw from the tournament because they were unable to come up with a team. A new ruling requires players to play for the state in which they were born.
KLHA secretary V. Rajamanickam said yesterday: We will not hold back any of our club-affiliated player from playing in the Razak Cup.
But they need to get a release from us. Otherwise, it will affect their participation in the KLHA League. We are happy to allow Negri to use our players.
Negri gave last year's tournament a skip because they were unable to come up with a team. This time, they will challenge for Division Two honours against Penang, Terengganu, Singapore, Police and Kedah.
Rajamanickam added that they had also given the Malacca HA the nod to field four of their players. The four are Nor Ikram Sulaiman, Tajol Rosli, Mohamed Annur Sham and Zaharin Zakaria.
