No double joy for Fuad in Sepang
PETALING JAYA: Asian Grand Prix rider Ahmad Fuad Baharuddin edged elder brother Ahmad Zamani to win Race 1 of the 600 Supersports category in the Malaysian Super Series at the Sepang Circuit yesterday.
However, Fuad failed in his mission to score a double win when he lost to his more experienced brother in Race 2.
After winning the opening race, which was reduced to just eight laps after Norweign Nils Uchida Zakariassen crashed, Fuad was determined to score a proper win in Race 2 to take early control of the Supersports championship.
Riding a Yamaha R6 and representing Team Petronas Sprinta Raceline, Fuad fought tooth and nail with Zamani from start to finish.
Zamani, who was third in Race 1, won the second race in 17:28.016. Fuad took second place in 17:28.189.
Australian Peter Hills dominated both Race 1 and Race 2 of the Supercar Championship.
The 2003 Supercar winner, Jimmy Low, was a class above his rivals in the Supersaloon Championship as he steered his Honda Integra DC5 to victory in Race 1 and 2.
