PSV win but lose striker Kluivert
AMSTERDAM: Second half goals from Diego Tardelli and Edison Mendez handed PSV Eindhoven a 2-0 win at ADO Den Haag in the Dutch league on Saturday.
Both teams suffered injury setbacks with PSV striker Patrick Kluivert hurting his knee after 17 minutes and ADO goalkeeper Stefan Postma breaking his leg in a clash with Arouna Kone who was on his way to setting up the opening goal.
PSV are top with 12 points after five matches, two points above AZ Alkmaar, Roda JC Kerkrade and Groningen. Alkmaar travel Roda on Sunday.
Also on Sunday, Ajax Amsterdam, sixth with nine points, host NEC Nijmegen, while disappointing Feyenoord, 13th with four, entertain Excelsior in a Rotterdam derby.
Twente Enschede beat Sparta Rotterdam 2-0 to go seventh on eight points. Edwin van Bueren scored an own goal after 19 minutes and Blaise N’Kufo doubled the lead from the penalty spot early in the second half.
Serbian international Danko Lazovic scored a hat-trick to inspire Vitesse Arnhem to a comfortable 4-0 win over Heracles Almelo.
On Friday, the derby between NAC Breda and Willem II Tilburg ended in a 0-0 draw. – Reuters
