Pachuca defeats Arabe Unido 2-0
MEXICO CITY (AP) - Ulises Mendivil scored two goals Wednesday as Pachuca defeated Panama club Arabe Unido 2-0, guaranteeing the Mexican team top spot in Group A in the final round of group play in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Pachuca, on 15 points, had already clinched a quarterfinal spot. Arabe Unido has 10 points.
Mendivil scored in the 43rd and 54th minutes as Pachuca used a mostly reserve team.
Arabe Unido will reach the quarterfinals if group rival Houston loses or draws in a late game with Metapan of El Salvador.
Houston will advance with a victory and eliminate Arabe Unido.
