Rally ace Loeb fails to get 'super licence'
PARIS: Five-time rally world champion Sebastien Loeb of France won’t be driving in the last Formula One race of the season after motor racing’s governing body refused to grant him a super licence.
Loeb had signed a deal with the Toro Rosso team to drive at the season-ending race in Abu Dhabi on Nov. 1.
The Frenchman, who will chase a sixth world champion title this weekend at the Rally of Britain, said Wednesday on its Web site: “I have no regrets because I had no ambitions. But it would have been fun to do it.”
With one race remaining in the rally world championships, Loeb trails leader Mikko Hirvonen by one point. - AP
