Lack of support from Negri fans disappoints Wan Jamak

PETALING JAYA: Negri Sembilan coach Wan Jamak Wan Hassan is surprised over the lukewarm response from their fans this season.

The former national coach said that he had yet to see a full-house at the 45,000 capacity Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi since he took charge of the team last year.

“This is one aspect we have to look into,” said a disappointed Wan Jamak, whose side draw only between 5,000 and 10,000 fans to their home matches thus far this season.

“We have done very well in the Malaysia Cup, winning all eight matches but surprisingly the fans are not showing up in full force.”

Wan Jamak hoped that their semi-final first-leg match against Terengganu in Paroi tonight would be played to a full house.

He added that Negri had to tread with caution and singled out Terengganu’s twin terrors Abdul Manaf Mamat and Mohd Ashaari Shamsuddin as the players his team had to watch closely.

“The two can cause problems to our defence,” said Wan Jamak.

Ashaari and Abdul Manaf have scored more than 30 goals between them this season.
