Bryan, Mun Yee prove peerless in their signature events
KUALA LUMPUR: Laos SEA Games-bound divers Bryan Nickson Lomas and Leong Mun Yee won their respective signature events on the second day of the Malaysian Open diving championships at the Paroi Aquatic Centre in Seremban yesterday.
World Championships finalist Bryan pulled off a comfortable win in the 10m platform individual to finish with a six-dive total of 406.20 points.
Two Australians – Matthew Bernard and James Connor – finished ahead of the Malaysian back-up divers for silver (329.10) and bronze (326.75) respectively.
Mun Yee, the country’s most experienced female diver, took the 3m springboard individual gold for Malaysia with 266.40 points.
Emma Jamieson of Australia took silver (256.15) ahead of team-mate Ashley (253.70).
Ashley partnered Taneka Kovchenko to prevent a Malaysian clean sweep of all six gold medals at stake by winning the 3m springboard synchronised competition with 245.94 points.
Britanny Broben-Jocelyn Burnett took silver for Australia (230.49) while national back-up pair Kam Ling Kar-Jasmine Lai (216.39) grabbed the bronze medal.
