Police: Boxer Mike Tyson detained
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Police say Mike Tyson has been detained on suspicion of battery after an alleged altercation with a photographer at Los Angeles International Airport.
Tyson's spokeswoman Tammy Brook says the boxer was traveling with his wife and 10-month-old child Wednesday afternoon when he was attacked by an overly aggressive paparazzi.
Brook says he acted in self-defense to protect his child.
Airport police spokesman Sgt. Jim Holcomb says the incident happened at a United Airlines ticket counter.
Holcomb says the photographer accused Tyson of hitting him. The photographer fell to the ground and cut his forehead. He's being treated at a hospital.
He says both Tyson and the photographer want to press charges for misdemeanor battery.
