Zulmazran piles pressure on himself to rise to the occasion
BOWLING WORLD CUP
MALACCA
ZULMAZRAN Zulkifli has put himself under pressure to perform in the World Cup and he will keep it that way.
The 26-year-old, who posted a second-block score of 1,770 yesterday for a total of 3,534 to move into third place, said that he bowled much better under pressure.
“Tiger Woods once said in one of his books that you can’t win if you play without pressure. I can deal with pressure ... no problem about it,” said Zulmazran, who got off to a nervy start yesterday with a score of 173 but recovered well until the end of the day.
“Everything that we planned yesterday didn’t work out in the first game. I had to make adjustments. Soon after talking to coach Holloway (Cheah) and making the decision on the adjustments I have to make, the scores were better.”
On whether he was satisfied with his performance thus far, Zulmazran replied: “I will only be satisfied when I win the World Cup.”
But Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman was satisfied with her performance yesterday in the women’s competition even though she fell a rung to ninth place.
The 19-year-old fired lines of 195-222-169-204-207-210-235-243 for a 1,685 score and a total of 3,348.
“I hope to improve more tomorrow and quickly find my bowling lines,” she said.
