14 media teams to compete in football tourney
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 14 teams have confirmed participation in the second National Sports Council-Media five-a-side football championships, which will be held at the NSC artificial pitch in Bukit Jalil on Sunday.
The NSC director general, Datuk Zolkples Embong, said that their media event this year, which is in collaboration with the Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM), included two other sports – table tennis and bowling.
“It’s not just a day of competition ... it is to foster goodwill among the media as well,” he said at a press conference before the draw for football competition at the NSC yesterday.
The table tennis event was held last week and the bowling competition will be held at the ARL Bowl in Putrajaya on Saturday.
The teams for the football competition are Astro Awani, NSC, TV3, Kosmo, RTM, Malay Mail and Harian Metro (Group A); Utusan, NST, Sinar Harian, The Star, Sponsors, Bernama and Berita Harian (Group B).
