SIC fulfil pledge made at Malaysia Motorcycle GP
PETALING JAYA: The Sepang International Circuit (SIC) handed a cheque worth RM20,000 to the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday, fulfilling their pledge made in conjunction with the Shell Advance Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix last month.
The event marked the most successful MotoGP race held in Malaysia with the highest attendance of 102,255 fans over a three-day period (Oct 23-25) since 1991.
The cheque was presented by the SIC chief executive officer, Razlan Razali, to the head of corporate communications at the ministry, Thomas Rainor Ralon.
The SIC pledged to put RM10 down for each of 2,000 tickets sold on the last 10 days counting down to the GP to an aid fund for victims of natural disasters in Indonesia and the Philippines.
“As we have pledged earlier on, our corporate social responsibility goes beyond borders as we represent the centre of international motorsport in this region,” said Razlan.
The Malaysian round of the MotoGP race next year will be held on Oct 10.
