Iskandar vows to fight until the end for title
PETALING jAYA: Mohd Iskandar Raduan is not ready to give up the chase for the Expert crown in the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championships – yet.
With just two more rounds remaining, the Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Raceline rider is in fourth place with 98 points – 18 behind leader Mohd Zamri Baba (Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Ah Hong).
Iskandar’s team-mate, Ahmad Fuad Baharudin is second (114 points) while defending champion Ahmad Fazli Sham of Shell Advance Yamaha Maju is third (112).
The Negri Sembilan-born Iskandar must win at the Sepang International Circuit next weekend and Round 10 in Batu Kawan, Penang, on Dec 19-20, and hope for the best.
“It’s a slim chance but there is still a possibility. It’s only over when it’s not mathematically possible will I give up,” said the 25-year-old Iskandar. “Anything can happen in racing.”
On his expectations for the Sepang leg of the race, Iskandar admitted that it would not be a walk in the park.
“It’s almost the end of the season and many riders are determined to be on the podium,” said Iskandar, who finished third in Round 5 at the same venue in July.
